European Forum of Deposit Insurers (EFDI)

The Maltese Depositor Compensation Scheme is one of the founder members of the European Forum of Deposit Insurers (EFDI). EFDI was established in Vienna, on October 11, 2002. It now has 45 members representing 35 European countries. Its aim is to contribute to the stability of financial schemes, while promoting European cooperation in the field of deposit insurance, and also to facilitate exchange of expertise and information on issues of mutual interest and concern (e.g. protection of cross-border services, financial customers’ protection in the single market etc.).
